Join us in Rocky Gap for CE, Golf and Family Fun

Plans are almost complete for the sixth annual Summer CE, Golf and Family Fun Weekend scheduled for August 2-4 at the spectacular Rocky Gap Lodge and Golf Resort. Why not schedule a tax-deductible family vacation?

To allow more free time with family, the weekend will again begin at 4:00 p.m. with the first segment of three 3-hour continuing education sessions. Fran Burgos, O.D. of TLC Laser Eye centers will present a dynamic session on "Advances in LASIK." Following the education will be a pool-side welcome reception overlooking the majestic Rocky Gap state park. Saturday will begin at 8:00 a.m. with a continental breakfast and another 3-hour continuing education session, "Critical HIPPA Update," presented by David Sharp, Ph.D. of the Maryland Health Care Commission. The federally mandated HIPPA (privacy) guidelines are scheduled to take effect October 2002. Attend this important session to determine if your practice is compliant and what action you need to take in order to become compliant by the deadline. This important session is open to O.D.s and office staff alike.

The morning session will be followed by lunch and golf on the Jack Nicklaus Signature golf course. For non-golfers, the MOA is working closely with the activities staff at the Gap. Family and friends activities may include a guided bike tour around the park, or a nature based youth camp. On Saturday afternoon you can either lounge by the pool or beach, or participate in the Hook, Line and Sinker program designed to teach participants about fishing, including the necessary equipment. Saturday's dinner will be a Family-Style Cook Out followed by s' mores at the campfire. The Sunday morning 3-hour CE on Glaucoma will be presented by Sam Boles, M.D. of Omni Eye Specialists. The weekend will conclude at 12:00 p.m. allowing plenty of time to enjoy the Rocky Gap Sate Park.

The Rocky Gap Lodge and Golf Resort is located in the heart of Rocky Gap State Park in Western, MD, amidst the ridges, gaps and valleys of one of the world's oldest mountain ranges. The site features an 18-hole Jack Nicklaus Signature golf course. The lakeside dinning lodge, located next to a 243-acre lake, offers a private dinning room overlooking the lake. The resort also offers white sandy beaches, fishing for trout and large-mouth bass, fitness center and volleyball courts. The Maryland Optometric Association has secured special room rates for this meeting: $89 for single or double occupancy (plus $3 park fees per day). For more information contact Sharon Kneebone.
