The mission of the Maryland Optometric Association (MOA) is to provide its members with the resources necessary to deliver the highest standard of professional care to the citizens of Maryland. A not-for-profit, voluntary association of optometrists, MOA serves as the "Voice of Optometry" in Maryland. As such, MOA is active in Annapolis defending and enhancing the optometrist's scope of practice, and to provide more types of care to the consumer. Our members also participate in commmunity programs that benefit segments of the population that have not had access to regular eye care.

An affiliate of the American Optometric Association MOA's membership includes more than 350 optometrists from all across Maryland. Within MOA exists seven local optometric societies which hold regional activities to increase the quality of optometry and public awareness concerning our issues throughout the state.
