The 2006 MOA Convention and Education Forum was a huge success this year, with over 250 Maryland ODs participating! The convention was a weekend full of education, networking, food, and fun in downtown Baltimore at the Hyatt Regency Baltimore. Courses were offered to participants on a variety of topics including Understanding the New Medicare Guidelines, Dry Eye and Ocular Surface Disease and Allergy updates and many more. Participants had the opportunity to dine at Caesar's Den Italian Restaurant in Little Italy. Prestigious guest speakers kept the crowd intrigued discussing different subjects including Optometric Diagnosis of the Headache Suffering Patient and Retina Treatment.

The Award Ceremony honored many optometry professionals for their hard work and dedication to the field. Awards that were given included Young OD of the Year, the Eugene McCrary Award, and many others.

MOA’s Young OD of the Year Award is presented to Nina Doyle, OD for all of her efforts in promoting the MOA and Maryland Optometrists in a variety of health and low vision fairs.
Over 250 Maryland ODs attended MOA’s successful 2007 Convention and Education Forum.
AOA Secretary-Treasurer Randolph Brooks, O.D., addresses MOA on the latest work of the AOA and why it is critical that all licensed Optometrists support their professional association.
As MOA begins to develop plans for its Centennial Celebration (2014), a new History Committee has been developed. On site at the recent convention to unveil many of the points of interest learned to-date were: Drs. Jerry Resnick, Lester Kaplan and Richard Piel, and Past Presidents Morton Davis (1970-1971), and James Poland (1968-1969).

The Mel Waxman Award, presented in recognition of dedicated and loyal service to the optometric profession and to the Maryland Optometric Association, is given by MOA President Lisa McGinn, OD, to Howard Woolf, OD (Center). Joining for the presentation is MOA Awards Chairman Past President Michael Sless, OD

Many of MOA’s Past Presidents joined together for this year’s dynamic annual meeting. Seated (l-r) are Drs. James Colgain, OD, is presented MOA’s OD of the Year Award in recognition of his many contributions to the MOA and its recent "Steroids Refresher" course. Making the presentation is MOA President Lisa McGinn, OD
Guest lecturers educated the participating ODs on many different topics. Courses were also offered throughout the convention.
MOA’s Eugene McCrary Award, given in recognition of significant contributions to the enhancement of eye care for the citizens of Maryland by a non-optometrist, is presented by MOA President Lisa McGinn, OD to Joel Rozner and Pat Roddy representing the MOA’s lobbying firm of Rifkin, Livingston, Levitan and Silver. Joining for the presentation is MOA’s 1st Vice President and Legislative Chairman Rob Stutman, OD

Various courses were offered to the participants throughout the convention.

Information on various businesses related to the field of optometry was available. New City Optical had brochures and other materials filled with information for the OD professionals.
Omni Eye Specialists was among the many businesses who made an appearance at the convention.

Networking was one of the main activities at the two day convention.
